FAQ

How many playable characters does the store advertise?
The official Steam store copy advertises over 40 playable characters. That is a marketing total, not a complete, independently checked roster or a tier list.
How should the two Lyssa spellings be listed?
Official sources use Lyssa Ravenya and Lyssa Revenya. Group them as an unresolved spelling-variant note for readability, retain both source strings, and do not decide from these announcements whether they refer to one playable character or separate entries until an official correction appears.
How should the two Yarrick name variants be listed?
Official sources use Commissar Yarrick and Sebastian Yarrick. Group them as unresolved source variants for readability, retain the exact wording, and do not decide from these announcements whether they refer to one playable character or separate entries.

Which characters are officially named?

Official pages name a partial roster that spans Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. The Warhammer Community character announcement names Malum Caedo, Marneus Calgar, Chaplain Fo’Baran, Knight-Commander Pask, Commissar Yarrick, Neave Blacktalon, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Sharynn Azurwrath. Auroch’s announcements also name Legend of Catachan, Lyssa Ravenya, and a Yarrick source string written as Sebastian Yarrick.

These are source-backed names, not a complete character index. The official Steam app metadata separately advertises over 40 playable characters, but that marketing total does not tell us which characters are available at launch, how they unlock, or how they perform. Treat it as the scope of the store copy, not as permission to fill in missing names or assign a tier.

How do the two Demos change the roster context?

The first Steam Demo announcement, dated May 21, 2026 in Steam’s Demo metadata, introduced Malum Caedo on Imperial Bastion against Tyranids and Neave Blacktalon on Great Parch against Skaven. That is historical Demo context. It does not establish that these are the only full-game characters or that their Demo performance will carry into release.

The October announcement describes a new Demo with two heroes. The October release material names Legend of Catachan and Lyssa, while preserving the spelling found in each source. The Auroch release announcement prints Lyssa Ravenya; the Warhammer Community Demo article prints Lyssa Revenya. Keep both source strings grouped as an unresolved spelling-variant note; the available sources do not establish whether they refer to one playable character or separate entries.

Original informational diagram, not gameplay footage: it shows why Demo roster observations need a build and date label.

The same discipline applies to Yarrick. The character announcement uses Commissar Yarrick, while the Auroch announcement uses Sebastian Yarrick. Preserve the exact wording and group the two strings as unresolved source variants; these announcements do not establish whether they refer to one playable character or separate entries.

Why is there no character tier list yet?

No release-build hands-on playthrough was completed for this research pass. The homepage’s pre-release tier-list answer explains this status: no release rank is published until a release build is observed. This article does not invent S, A, or B grades, damage values, unlock costs, or recommended builds.

The first fair ranking pass needs a controlled comparison: the same game build, platform, universe and stage where relevant, comparable upgrades, and repeated observations. Rankings will consider survival, damage, ease of use, and the setup a character needs. Record which hero was tested, what weapons and evolutions appeared, how consistent the run was, and where the observation came from. The diagram below shows the method; it is not a report that testing has already happened.

Original informational diagram, not gameplay footage: it describes a future test protocol rather than reporting a result.

Until that record exists, use the release-date and platform guide to understand the timeline, the evolution chart to separate announcements from Demo leads, and the editorial standards to see how a later tier verdict will be supported. A named character is useful evidence; it is not a ranking.

What will be updated after release?

This page can grow from a list of announced names into a verified roster when primary sources and observed records become available. The update should keep the old and new Demo context visible, resolve the Lyssa spelling through an official correction if one appears, and preserve source wording for Yarrick. A release-build tier belongs beside a build label and observation date, never as an unexplained rewrite of the announcement history.
